Modi Hails Historic Third Term Victory
Economic Survey 2024 Highlights
Inflation Expected to Ease in Coming Years
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his pride in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) historic third consecutive term victory. Speaking at a rally in New Delhi, Modi said, "It is a matter of pride that after 60 years, a government has come to power for the third time. This is a testament to the people's trust in our policies and our commitment to their welfare."
Meanwhile, the Economic Survey 2024, which was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament, painted a cautiously optimistic picture of the Indian economy. The Survey projected that the headline inflation rate will ease to 4.5% in FY25 and 4.1% in FY26, thanks to a combination of monetary and fiscal measures taken by the government. However, the Survey also cautioned that global economic uncertainties and geopolitical tensions could pose risks to the Indian economy's growth prospects.
